Power largely restored after Sunday storms; schools close

Almost all of the power customers who lost power after severe thunderstorms moved through the area Sunday evening have had their electricity restored.

In our area, the largest number of outages were reported in Warren County, with over 800 customers without power as of 8 a.m. Monday.

A tree fell on a house trailer in New Miami and strong winds knocked power out in the small Butler County village. New Miami schools were closed today due to the power issues.

Several power poles near Trenton were snapped and caused some power issues in the city.

The Warren County Career Center was closed Monday due to a power outage caused by Sunday night’s severe storms.

Adult education daytime classes were canceled, but it was a remote learning day for all other students, according to the center’s website.

The Warren County Emergency Management Agency warned residents that remnants of the storm may affect roadways, with debris or power lines down.

“Give crews plenty of room to work and clear the roads,” the agency posted on social media.
