4) Love Actually
Perhaps best known for the scene where a character played by Andrew Lincoln gives his friend’s wife a romantic message via cue cards he displays outside of their home, “Love Actually” is a romantic comedy that was released in 2003. It features a lot of big stars, including Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman and more, and it takes place during the holidays. Try not to get the song “Christmas Is All Around” stuck in your head after watching this classic. Where to watch: Amazon Prime, Hulu, fuboTV, YouTube TV, Sling TV
3) It’s A Wonderful Life
This film was released in 1946 and continues to be one of the most-watched Christmas movies of all-time. Where to watch: Amazon Prime, Sling TV, The Roku Channel, Plex, Xumo Play, Paramount Movies
2) Die Hard
This 1988 film is anything but “cozy,” but it’s still on the list. It stars Bruce Willis, whose character John McClane visits his estranged wife at a Los Angeles skyscraper and gets caught there during a terrorist takeover. It happens during a Christmas party, thus putting this into the Christmas movie genre for some. (That categorization has been debated for years.) The movie is another featuring Alan Rickman, who plays the villain Hans Gruber. It is considered to be the film that bumped Bruce Willis to his fame. Where to watch: Tubi, The Roku Channel, Amazon Prime, Hulu, YouTube TV, Sling TV, Disney+, Pluto TV
1) The Holiday
Starring Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Jack Black and Rufus Sewell, “The Holiday” was released in 2006 and tells the tale of two women mad at exes who swap homes for Christmas — one in Los Angeles and the other in England. Both meet new men while on their trips. The “cozy Christmas” vibe is strong in this one: Winslet’s character owns a home so idyllic, complete with a small picket fence and constantly surrounded by light snowfall, that memes still get made about it. Where to watch: Amazon Prime, Hulu, YouTube TV, fuboTV, Sling TV
