In a partnership with the Paul George STEM Center, Inspiring Arts has its first permanent home, and with the new space, the organization is launching Inspiring Arts Academy, and offering its second original production, “Legacy” for licensing.

“We have been renting space for our rehearsals at a couple of different churches over the years and that also meant we didn’t have a place for building and painting set pieces, costuming, props, or storing things. We were always moving our stuff in and out of cars, and vans, and we were always looking for places we could build our sets, so we were very nomadic, show after show, so it’s been a huge blessing for our group to be able to be at a place we can call home,” said Beth Kenniv, artistic director.

Inspiring Arts has the use of two classrooms that have been transformed into a workspace, and a studio as well as an auditorium for rehearsals. It also provides a sense of community for kids, parents, cast members, staff, and the creative team.

Kerry Marsh, administrative director, said Inspiring Arts is sharing the rental space with a high school robotics team.

“Both organizations are nonprofits aimed at providing the community with opportunities to learn and grow, so it just felt like a really great fit,” Marsh said. “It’s a been a fun, unique partnership.”

With a new home, Inspiring Arts is launching the Inspiring Arts Academy. Inspiring Arts Academy will offer six-week theater and dance classes beginning in February. The classes give youth an opportunity to experience musical theater production and learn theater skills. Led by Inspiring Arts production staff and mainstage actors, these weekly classes are available to elementary through high school students.

“We’re excited. My background is education. I’m still an active classroom teacher, in addition to all of the theater endeavors I do, so it’s always been a part of our mission and what we’ve been about through camps, and even through how we run our rehearsals, we are always training and teaching,” Kenniv said. “The academy will allow us to focus on the process and the craft of learning all the skills that go into performing.”

Classes offered will include “Introduction to Theater,” “Exploring Musical Theater Movement,” “Acting for the Stage,” and “Musical Theater Dance.” Each of the classes are offered for two different age levels.
