A dozen free concerts presented by First Financial Bank will be held outdoors on Thursday nights from 6-9 p.m. nearly every week in June, July and August at the clock tower on The Square @ Union Centre.
There is no concert on Thursday, July 4.

“We are looking forward to having a great time. We have some fantastic new bands this year. We are bringing in Blessid Union of Souls on Thursday, Aug. 8 for a big concert that is a lead-up to the Union Centre Food Truck Rally that takes place on Friday, Aug. 9,” said Barb Wilson, West Chester Twp. spokeswoman.
Multi-platinum hometown band Blessid Union of Souls, fronted by Eliot Sloan, will make a debut at The Takeover with a three-hour concert on Thursday, Aug. 8, and guests will have an opportunity to taste a sampling of the food options the night before the Food Truck Rally.
Another night created for Parrotheads will be on Thursday, July 18. Jimmy Buffet will be at Riverbend Music Center that same night, but for those unable to attend his concert on the river, West Chester will host its own Margaritaville-styled party with Parrots of the Caribbean at The Takeover.
Other newcomers for 2019 include Two For Flinching, Cherry On Top, 90 Proof Twang, Dat Band and Bad Habit.
Some of the bands audiences will see return this year include crowd favorites like Naked Karate Girls, DV8, Swagg, 2nd Wind, and 3 Piece Revival.
Wilson said The Takeover has grown every year.

“The space is really conducive to spreading out a blanket or bringing some chairs. There’s even space for kids to throw a ball. I think the space has helped make The Takeover so successful. It’s an opportunity to start your weekend early. You can start your weekend on Thursday here at The Takeover, and people can make the night what they want it to be. It’s their park and their party,” Wilson said.
This is the third year the concert series has been rebranded as “The Takeover.” Although there will not be specific theme nights this year, there will be surprises throughout the summer, such as free swag or T-shirt giveaways.
“Our guests love hanging out with their neighbors and friends, listening to the music, and enjoying the beautiful summer weather,” Wilson said.
The Takeover will feature craft beers from two hometown breweries, DogBerry Brewing and Grainworks Brewing Company.
