“There’s a good variety of music,” said, Kelly Barkley, senior manager of community relations, MetroParks of Butler County. “We have everything from tropical to pop, blues and jazz. No matter what your musical taste is there’s something on the list you are going to enjoy.”
One highlight will be Aug. 2, when The McCartney Project pays tribute to The Beatles and the music of Wings.
The concert series brings 12 concerts this year. The series expanded to 12 concerts in 2016. There were nine concerts in 2015 and six concerts in 2014.
“This is an opportunity to take that break in the middle of the week, and to be exposed to music, culture and the outdoors all in one fell swoop is great. … This is an opportunity to be out, enjoying nature and the beautiful season, and have free music,” Barkley said.
Concerts will be held lakeside with performers on the gazebo, just outside of the Ronald Reagan Lodge. Guests may bring chairs and blankets.
“There will be an enhanced focus on providing family fun activities during the concerts for families who bring children,” Barkley said.
Families can take advantage of several rental options while at the concert, including bikes and paddleboats. There will be an expanded family yard game area close to the concert area, so parents can listen to the concert while they play with their children. Younger children will also have an opportunity to play on the playground. Food options and adult beverages will be available for purchase on the Ronald Reagan Lodge patio.
