The Hamilton Welcomes the Holidays Christmas tree lighting event has been moved to a new location this year.

The Nov. 17 event to welcome the holidays will be held at the entrance to RiversEdge Amphitheatre in Marcum Park, organizers said.

In past years the tree lighting has taken place on the lawn of the Butler County Historic Courthouse on High Street. By moving to RiversEdge at Marcum Park, this year’s event will be bigger than ever, according to organizers.

In addition to horse-drawn carriage rides, there will be live reindeer, face painters and balloon artists — all free.

Holiday performances by the combined Hamilton City Schools Elementary Choir, and choirs from Immanuel Lutheran School, St. Peter in Chains and Queen of Peace Schools will highlight the program, which begins at 5:30 p.m.

People can visit Municipal Brew Works beginning at 1 p.m. for the tapping of a special holiday beer. At 4 p.m. a pre-celebration with family activities and food and beverage will be offered at Courtyard by Marriott.

The Hamilton Fire Department will deliver Santa and his elves and they’ll help light the Nieman Nursery Christmas tree. Santa will greet youngsters at the hotel afterward, and carriage rides will continue until approximately 7:30 p.m. Food and refreshments will continue to be available at the hotel.
