27 people were indicted in Butler and Warren counties

Grand juries, which meet in secret, review criminal charges brought by police and prosecutors and investigate possible criminal behavior. The proceedings are usually one-sided because the accused is not present and witnesses are not cross-examined.

A grand jury may issue an indictment if it finds probable cause that a crime was committed and the accused person is responsible. An indictment is an accusation that must then be proven in court. The grand jury may also elect to issue no indictment.

BUTLER COUNTY

Indictments returned during a recent session of the Butler County grand jury:

Donald Schultz, 2716 N. Verity Parkway, Middletown; indicted on one count each of having weapons while under disability, possession of drugs, unauthorized source of liquor, and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Darby Lutiarl Smith, Jr., 2005 Woodlawn Ave., Middletown; indicted on one count each of operating a vehicle under the influence, operating a vehicle under the influence (direct), and driving under OVI suspension.

Summer Ann Mills, 336 Old St., Apt. B, Monroe; indicted on one count each of strangulation and domestic violence.

Andrew Scott Crank, Sr., 5032 College Corner Pk., Apt. #32, Oxford; indicted on one count of possession of a fentanyl-related compound.

Niguel Amarion Dubose, 5101 Hawaiian Terrace, Apt. 5, Cincinnati; indicted on one count each of carrying concealed weapons, and obstructing official business.

Wendell Jeffery Reed, Jr., 3563 Wabash Drive, Cincinnati; indicted on two counts of forgery.

Brian Scott Lovins, 935 Hayes St., Hamilton; indicted on one count each of aggravated possession of drugs, and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Gary Ryan Fletcher, 4750 Quray Court, Hamilton; indicted on one count each of aggravated possession of drugs, and aggravated possession of drugs (direct).

Deeric Martez Shavers, 2425 Noble Ave., Hamilton; indicted on one count each of carrying concealed weapons, and obstructing official business.

Levonte Jamaal Bilal, 14616 Wheeler Road, Maple Heights; indicted on one count of rape.

Jason Deandre Johnson Jr., 148 Woodstock Drive, Fairfield; indicted on one count each of improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, possession of cocaine (direct), and trafficking in cocaine (direct).

Ryan T. Bingle, 809 Campbell Ave., Hamilton; indicted on two counts of aggravated possession of drugs, and one count of possession of a fentanyl-related compound.

Jacob Darner, 1143 Goodman Ave., Hamilton; indicted on 24 counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor (direct), and one count of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.

Alex Mason, 2019 Woodlawn Ave., Middletown; indicted on one count of possession of cocaine (direct).

David Hernandez-Garcia, 1706 Columbia Ave., Middletown; indicted on one count of rape (direct).

Charles Joseph Taggart Jr., 1017 Summer St., #2, Hamilton; indicted on two counts of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound.

Christopher D. Andrew, 3374 Village Drive, Fairfield; indicted on three counts of nonsupport of dependents (direct).

Rachel Napier, 401 Garfield St., Middletown; indicted on two counts of nonsupport of dependents (direct).

Raymond Anthony Oden, 3154 Lucas Road, Hamersville; indicted on one count of grand theft of a motor vehicle.

Kelly Lee Patty-Fort, 10740 Country Walk Court, Dayton; indicted on one count each of possession of cocaine; operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or a combination of them; operating a vehicle while under the influence of a listed controlled substance or a listed metabolite of a controlled substance, and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Seth Allen Hill, Warren Correctional Institution; indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs.

Kevin Eugene Evans, Warren Correctional Institution; indicted on one count of harassment with a bodily substance.

Josh David Daniels, Warren Correctional Institution; indicted on one count of assault.
