Huffy recalling tricycles

Centerville-based Huffy is voluntarily recalling about 5,000 of its Slider tricycles sold earlier this year at Toys R Us stores.

Huffy is recalling the trikes because the handlebar can unexpectedly loosen while in use and cause the rider to lose control. No incidents have been reported, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a news release.

Consumers should immediately stop using the tricycle and contact Huffy for instructions on how to obtain a refund, the safety commission said. Call Huffy at (888) 366-3828 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, or online at www.huffybikes.com.

The model being recalled is called the Huffy 20-inch Slider. It has a white frame and a black seat with black handlebars. The model number is 98862, which is located on the frame under the seat.
