Porta Kleen has operated within Butler County for more than seven years. It employs more than 100 people across the United States and more than 30 people within its Fairfield branch.
The company has plans to expand its Fairfield branch in the upcoming months and needs to hire a variety of positions, including mechanics, sales managers, route drivers, pick up and delivery drivers, customer service representatives and individuals skilled in a trade, such as welding, plumbing, electrical and other areas, according to marketing coordinator Charla Mayhew.

We asked Mayhew about the challenges the company is facing and how it’s working to overcome roadblocks to hiring. Here’s what she had to say:
Q. What’s the biggest challenge facing the company and others in the industry and how is the company uniquely positioned to address that challenge?
A: “During our peak summer months, hours can become longer due to additional work site orders and multiple events throughout the city. Porta Kleen offers comprehensive on-the-job training and an extensive safety program to educate its employees and keep them engaged.”
Q: What’s the most prevalent roadblock you encounter when it comes to hiring and what can job seekers do to remedy that situation?

Q: What’s the vision for the company’s growth, both jobs and otherwise, for the next five years?
A: “Porta Kleen’s vision is to double its Cincinnati business within the next five years and to establish a new building within the Fairfield area. To do this, the company will need to hire additional staff members.”
Q: Some job seekers are concerned about the limits of advancement within a company. To what degree can your employees advance from entry-level roles to be promoted to greater positions within the company?
A: “Porta Kleen is always looking for candidates with ambitions for advancement. As the company grows, it will need greater numbers of experienced individuals to manage new branches and manage festivals across the country. To be considered for advancement, employees must be dedicated, safety-conscious, responsible, and customer-service orientated.”
