A five-star recruit at Middletown, Marshall was one of the first players to join Urban Meyer’s first full-year recruiting class at Ohio State (2013).

After redshirting his first year, Marshall emerged as one of the playmakers for the 2014 national championship team
He logged 74 receptions as a Buckeye, totaling 976 yards (13.2 avg.) and 11 touchdowns through the air while also picking up 175 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
After going undrafted in 2016, Marshall was signed by the New York Jets. He played 10 games in two years with that franchise, logging 14 receptions for 162 yards and two touchdowns.

Most recently he was part of the Alliance of American Football, where he scored the first touchdown in league history playing for the Orlando Apollos, who went out of business with the rest of that startup league in April.
In February, Marshall told this news organization he had signed with the AAF after not receiving any offers from NFL teams last fall.
Prior to taking the opportunity with the Apollos, Marshall was preparing to return to school at Ohio State, where he still plans to finish a degree in journalism.
