Sheriff Richard K. Jones called on the public last week to help deputies locate the owner after a severely emaciated pit bull mix was found on Knightsbridge.

“Lucy’s condition after being cared for is like night and day, not only physically but you can see she is happier,” Sheriff Richard Jones said. “She will continue to get the care she needs. We will not tolerate this treatment towards animals in this county.”

Lucy has severe diabetes, and the owner failed to properly provide for her ongoing medical care and needs, a sheriff’s office release states. Lucy was hospitalized all weekend to get her numbers back up to a normal levels.
