Multiple arrests made at Butler County OVI checkpoint

A Butler County OVI checkpoint Friday night at University Boulevard and First Avenue in Middletown netted multiple arrests, including one OVI.

Pete Reising, Butler County OVI Task Force coordinator, said 540 vehicles were went through the sobriety checkpoint. He said there were five diversions for further investigation during the checkpoint that included two for driving under suspension, with one of those drivers having two outstanding warrants for his arrest, and one OVI-drugs arrest.

Middletown police, Butler County Sheriff’s deputies and Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers conducted the checkpoint from 6:30 to 9:45 p.m. Friday in addition to extra patrols in the area around the checkpoint.

The checkpoints and saturation patrols are part of the task force’s continuing effort to reduce OVI-related crashes resulting in injuries and fatalities.

The Butler County OVI Task Force is funded by U.S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Transportation Safety Administration and the Ohio Department of Public Safety.
