Middletown police to purchase four new police vehicles

Middletown police will replace four police cruisers 13 months past their replacement date.

Middletown City Council Tuesday approved a motion to purchase four new Ford PPV Utility vehicles off the Ohio Department of Administrative Services purchasing contract for $132,747 from Lebanon Ford. The vehicles were available on the state cooperative purchasing contract, so bidding was not necessary, city officials said.

Three of the new cruisers will cost $33,012 each and one of the new cruisers will be $33,711 and will have rear air conditioning so it can be used as a K-9 cruiser.

The new cruisers will replace four 2013 Chevrolet Caprices and will be sold through the GovDeals website.

Funds have already been appropriated in the 2019 police budget for the purchase.
