Middletown neighbor confused when bullet comes through wall and breaks TV

A Middletown man said when he was cleaning his gun, it went off and the bullet damaged his television and his neighbor’s TV, according to a police report.

Police were called Sunday night to an apartment in the 3100 block of Elman Drive. The resident told police she observed white chalk under her TV, and there was a hole in the wall. She didn’t hear any gunshots and she didn’t know what happened, she told police.

The next-door neighbor, Thomas Evans, 22, told police when he was cleaning his gun, it accidentally went off. The round went through his TV, into his wall, through his neighbor’s wall and TV, the report read. He agreed to pay restitution for his neighbor’s TV.

He was charged with discharge of a firearm in the city limits, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. His arraignment is set for Jan. 23 in Middletown Municipal Court.
