What you’re saying: Hamilton moves Christmas tree lighting

A decision to change the location of the Hamilton Welcomes the Holidays Christmas tree lighting event is drawing a strong response on social media.

The Nov. 17 event will be held at the entrance to RiversEdge Amphitheatre in Marcum Park, organizers said.

FIRST REPORT: Hamilton’s annual holiday tree lighting moves to new location

In past years the tree lighting has taken place on the lawn of the Butler County Historic Courthouse on High Street. By moving to RiversEdge at Marcum Park, this year’s event will be bigger than ever, according to organizers.

While many said Marcum Park will create more space for holiday activities and parking, others had strong opinions about not messing with tradition.

Some posters suggested having a tree at both the courthouse lawn and Marcum Park so all will be able to see a shining bit of holiday cheer.
