Death of Warren County prison inmate under investigation

An inmate at the Warren Correctional Institution was pronounced dead Thursday at a local hospital, according to a prison official.

Kelvin Bunton, 31, was pronounced dead at 4:08 p.m. Thursday at Atrium Medical Center in Middletown, said Greg Craft, public information office at the prison. He said the Ohio State Highway Patrol investigation unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding Bunton’s death.

He was incarcerated Dec. 19, 2017, on two counts of felony drug trafficking from Cuyahoga County and was scheduled to be released June 12, 2022, Craft said.

Bunton had been an inmate at WCI since Oct. 31, 2019.
