Kings Island to close one of the park’s 16 roller coasters

Kings Island has announced plans to close one of its 16 roller coasters at the end of Halloween Haunt later this fall, the park said in a prepared statement.

The amusement park did not release the name of the roller coaster that will be closing, however said it plans to reveal the coaster later this week.

Guests to the annual Halloween event on Friday were the first to see a new grave site in the park's annual 'ride graveyard' display, all set-up for a funeral service and containing a sign with the message.

“The air is eerily calm as we make final preparations for the ill-fated demise of one of our own,” a sign read at the display.

The sign indicated the ride would close on Oct. 28 with final rides beginning this week.
