The Golden Lamb has been named one of the five "Best Classic Restaurants" in Ohio by Food & Wine magazine.

The Golden Lamb has scored another nice little shout-out from a national media outlet, its second in the last three months.

The iconic Lebanon restaurant and inn that traces its history to 1803 has been named one of the five "Best Classic Restaurants" in Ohio by Food & Wine magazine, in an article written by Food & Wine senior editor David Handsel entitled "The Best Classic Restaurants in Every State."

>> Take THAT, Columbus and Cleveland. Ohio's 'Most Famous Restaurant' is right here in the Miami Valley

The Golden Lamb was joined on the Ohio list by Price Hill Chili in Cincinnati, Lindey’s in Columbus, and Lola and Sokolowski’s University Inn in Cleveland.

>> Golden Lamb named Ohio’s ‘most iconic’ restaurant

The magazine notes the Golden Lamb “has hosted at least a dozen presidents during its long lifetime,” and says of its restaurant menu: “You could get fancy, or you could give in to the half-fried chicken dinner, like so many others do (it’s good).”

The recognition comes hard on the heels of the Golden Lamb being named "Ohio's Most Famous Restaurant" by msn.com in November 2019, in the website's story titled "The Most Famous Restaurant in Every State." And in 2017, Thrillist named the Golden Lamb Ohio's "most iconic" restaurant.

Who can argue with the accolades? After all, the Golden Lamb in Lebanon is not only Ohio’s oldest inn, it’s the Buckeye state’s oldest continuously operating business, boasting that 1803 launch. And it recently completed the most significant investment in the last half-century with the reopening of the newly renovated Black Horse Tavern.

In 2018, the Golden Lamb’s culinary team also began planting and cultivating its own farm, which now sources many ingredients on the restaurant’s locally inspired and seasonal menu.
