Coroner: Cause of Washington Twp. man’s death won’t be known for weeks

It could be several weeks before a determination can be made regarding how a Washington Twp. man died in his residence during the weekend, Montgomery County Coroner’s investigators said Monday.

The man found dead is 38-year-old Chad Walker, according to the coroner’s office.

The office is conducting tests on the body and it could be at least a month or more before the cause of death is known. No preliminary finding has been made.

“The cause of death is pending right now,” a spokeswoman for the coroner’s office said.

Walker’s mother called 911 Saturday just before noon after finding him on the basement floor of a home in the 1500 block of Chartwell Drive, according to dispatch logs. She told dispatchers she thought he fell and hit his head.

“My son is dead, I just found him in my basement and I don’t know what happened. There is blood everywhere. I don’t know what happened,” Jan Walker said during the 911 call. “He’s gone and I don’t know when this happened. He lives in my basement, and I didn’t talk to him this morning. I honestly don’t know what happened.”

She told the 911 dispatcher she last talked to her son Friday night and he had previously indicated to her that he had a problem with alcohol and could be diabetic. Chad Walker had moved home from Chicago in the last two months, according to his mother, after he had worked as a bike courier.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said its investigation of the death is ongoing, but did not have any further details regarding the discovery of the body.
