A student accused of making verbal threats Tuesday at a Hamilton school was removed by city police, school officials said.

There was no report of a weapon or injuries.

In a notice sent out to school parents, the principal of Hamilton Freshman School, Nancy Hulshult, wrote the male student was removed from the Butler County city school campus.

“Today we received reports about a freshman student expressing verbal threats toward the school,” wrote Hulshult.

“School officials responded immediately and worked with our School Resource Officer (SRO), following standard safety procedures that resulted in the removal of the student from the school.

“The building remained on our normal schedule. We commend the quick and expert responses from our staff and the Hamilton Police Department.

“We encourage everyone to continue stressing the importance of school safety and to report anything perceived as a possible threat.”

Hamilton police were not immediately available to provide more information on the incident at the school, which is at 2260 Northwest Washington Blvd.
