Lighting unit causes small fire at Cincinnati Financial

Fire crews turned out to Cincinnati Financial as a precautionary measure when a light ballast overheated, according to Fairfield fire officials.

“It was pretty small,” said Fairfield Fire Captain Jamie Ruhl. “It was just a light haze inside the building when some people might consider it smoke and (to) some people it’s just a light haze.

“It was really not a big deal at all.”

Fire crews cleared the scene shortly after 11 a.m.

FIRST REPORT

Emergency crews are responding to Cincinnati Financial at 6200 South Gilmore Road for a report of a structure fire.

The incident was called in around 10:25 a.m. and smoke reportedly was in the southeast tower’s third floor.

Units responding to the scene told dispatchers there was “no known flame” as of 10:32 a.m. and that power was shut down. Firefighters told dispatchers someone told them an employee was briefly stuck in an elevator.

Cincinnati Financial’s nearly 3,000 employees make it the largest employer in Fairfield and the second largest employer in all of Butler County.
