A downtown Hamilton business is changing owners and changing names.

Allie Greene, of Hamilton, purchased Blades Salon, 222 Main St., on May 21.

“We did painting and added new furniture,” she said. “No big renovations or anything, but it looks 100 percent different and updated.”

A name change to “Steel Magnolias” will take effect in a few months, Greene said.

“I am (originally) from the south — Alabama — so it was fitting,” she said. “My momma and I picked that name a long time ago and it stuck.”

The business is a full-service hair salon, Greene said.

“I love color, so we specialize in a wide spectrum from the funky bright colors to the natural balayage coloring technique,” she said. “Brazilian blowout treatments are booming right now, and I’m proud to say I am certified to preform that service as well.”

The business also offers facial waxing and a hot towel wrap, the latter of which is geared mainly toward the salon’s male clientele, “but all of our guests are welcome to this spa experience,” she said.

“After they receive their shampoo service with neck massage, we wrap their face in a mint infused steamed towel,” Greene said. “This really opens the pores, leaving the skin completely rejuvenated.”
