HS Results 10/16: Thomas sets Fairborn record

Lauren Thomas set a school record with six goals in Fairborn’s 7-2 sectional win versus Piqua in girls soccer on Monday.

Karen Floyd added the other goal for Fairborn and Aubree Duncan recorded three assists.

Fairborn moves on to play at Springboro on Thursday.

Northmont 2, Fairmont 1: Avianna Ewing and Jillian Naas both scored for Northmont in this sectional opener.

Beavercreek 9, Springfield 0: ‘Creek improved to 15-1-1 with the sectional win.

Mechanicsburg 4, Southeastern 2: Tori Jacobs and Kasey Schipfer each recorded a goal and an assist to lead ‘Burg in the sectional matchup.

Miami Valley 3, Newton 2, OT: Newton rallied from a two-goal deficit but Eva Lyon netted the game-winner in the closing seconds of overtime for MV.

CBC All-League Awards: Hannah Ryan of Spg. Shawnee and Sam Tracy of Urbana were tabbed as the players of the year by the league.

Boys Soccer

CBC All-League Awards: Tecumseh had seven players receive Kenton Trail division honors, headlined by first teamers Alex Arevalos, Cole Connor and Mitchell Foland. Northwestern had eight players on the Mad River side, led by Jeremy Howard, Noah Brown and Corbin Fuschino. Ben Logan’s George Kern was named a player of the year.

Girls Volleyball

Ross 3, Bethel Tate 0: Ross eliminated BT by scores of 25-9, 25-15 and 25-10 to open sectional play.

CCC All-Conference Team: Jonni Parker of Miami East was named the player of the year and Angie Filbrun of Franklin Monroe the coach of the year.

Girls Tennis

CBC All-League Awards: Mikayla Holland, Macy Wallace, Sydney Winslow, Maddy Grove, Gianna Embry, Bree Latting, Kassidy Driskill, Madalynn Garrett, Brenna Aldredge and Madison Smith were earned first team honors from the conference.
