The Cincinnati Bengals have retained one of their free agents.

The team announced Thursday it has agreed to a new three-year deal with punter Kevin Huber.

Special teams coach Darrin Simmons told bengals.com Huber is "a reliable guy."

"I thought his strength was fine. Believe me, if we didn't think so we wouldn't have re-signed him," Simmons said. "He's a reliable guy, a good guy. It's obviously been a good relationship for us. Kevin is someone we have a lot of trust in. He's trained under us. He does the things we want and we count on him to do."

The team site also noted Huber is one of only two Bengals to grow up in the Cincinnati area, play his college ball at the University of Cincinnati and play for the Bengals.

Running back Clem Turner is the other.

Huber was a fifth-round draft pick of the Bengals in 2009.

He holds the franchise record for gross average (45.0) and net (39.8) punting yards.

So far this offseason, the Bengals have acquired offensive tackle Cordy Glenn from the Bills and signed offensive lineman Bobby Hart and defensive lineman Chris Baker while declining to pick up a contract option for cornerback Adam Jones.

They have also seen quarterback AJ McCarron, defensive lineman Chris Smith and offensive lineman Andre Smith sign elsewhere.
