Football roundup: Fenwick routs Bacon for fifth straight victory

Fenwick High School’s football team stretched its winning streak to five Friday night with a 49-14 road victory over Roger Bacon.

Quarterback Sam Simendinger ran 11 times for 115 yards and hit Jamey Colts for a pair of touchdowns as the Falcons improved to 5-4 overall and 5-1 in the Greater Catholic League Coed North Division.

Amarius Gates (seven carries, 112 yards) and Alan Nix (nine carries, 106 yards) were also among Fenwick’s top runners. Gates scored twice and ripped off a 90-yard TD run, and Keegan Corbett, Jack Fessler and Jake Denning also rushed for touchdowns.

The Falcons won the yardage battle 554-226 against the Spartans (2-7, 0-6 GCLC Central), who suffered their seventh straight loss.

Fenwick ends the regular season at Carroll on Friday.

Carlisle 42, Eaton 7: Zayne Hart rushed for 230 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries for the visiting Indians, who won their seventh consecutive game.

D.J. Chambers notched a pair of TDs for Carlisle (7-2), running 12 times for 56 yards and a score and returning a kickoff 78 yards for a touchdown.

Spencer Mays added a TD run, and Ridge Reed gained 92 yards on seven rushes. Eaton fell to 2-7.

The Indians have clinched a spot in the Division V, Region 20 playoffs, according to JoeEitel.com. They’ve also earned at least a share of the Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division crown and will try to win it outright at Dixie on Friday.

Madison 48, Waynesville 7: Cameron Svarda (13 carries, 188 yards), Ryan Friend (nine carries, 101 yards) and Tyler Baumgartner (11 carries, 76 yards) ran for two touchdowns apiece for the host Mohawks.

Reid Davis also connected with Connor Oligee for a TD for Madison, which improved to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division. The Spartans dropped to 0-9, 0-6.

The Mohawks will host Northridge on Friday.

Lebanon 41, Stebbins 14: Dakota Allen threw for 202 yards and five touchdowns for the visiting Warriors, who have earned a Division I, Region 4 playoff berth (according to JoeEitel.com).

Nick Taylor and Jordan Campbell caught two TD passes apiece for Lebanon (7-2). Allen also ran six times for 62 yards as Stebbins fell to 2-7.

The Warriors will host Springboro on Friday.

Northwest 31, Talawanda 0: The visiting Braves were led by quarterback Logan Kamphaus in a defeat that left them 1-8 overall and 1-4 in the Southwest Ohio Conference.

Kamphaus threw for 74 yards and rushed for 42 for Talawanda, which lost the yardage battle 508-200. The Knights are 5-4, 3-2.

The Braves will visit Ross on Friday.

Bellbrook 27, Monroe 13: The host Hornets scored on their first and last drives of the game as their record fell to 2-7 overall and 2-4 in the Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern Division.

Nick Osterman and Cedric Amaniampong ran for the Monroe touchdowns. The Golden Eagles (6-3, 2-3) rushed for 302 yards on 47 carries.

The Hornets will be at home against Preble Shawnee on Friday.

Colerain 31, Lakota West 0: Zelwyn Robinson totaled 162 all-purpose yards for the host Firebirds, who fell to 2-7 overall and 2-4 in the Greater Miami Conference.

The top-ranked Cardinals (9-0, 6-0) wrapped up their 17th straight GMC championship.

West will be at home against Lakota East on Friday.

Logan 23, Ross 0: The visiting Rams dropped to 2-7 with their sixth straight defeat.

Ross will close the season at home against Talawanda on Friday.
