A Middletown woman was charged with drug abuse instruments, drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct after she allegedly overdosed on heroin inside the women’s restroom of a local fast-food restaurant.

Police and paramedics responded to the McDonald’s, 2351 N. Verity Parkway, Wednesday morning on a report that a woman had locked herself in the bathroom stall. They found Miranda Lee Deaton, 26, of Vannest Avenue, on the floor of the bathroom, outside the stall, according to the police report.

She was given Narcan and she responded, according to the police report.

Inside a bathroom stall, police found a broken spoon, lighter, cell phone, and a piece of paper that contained heroin, police said. She eventually showed police a syringe she was hiding in her bra.

She was transported to Atrium Medical Center. She told police she had been clean for four months but had “a weak moment” and used heroin.
