A Franklin woman said one of her friends was fatally stabbed Sunday night trying to possibly save her life.

Nicole Checkawitz, 39, of Rooks Lane, said while she and Terry Hall Jr. were remodeling her home, Robert Adam White walked in and there was a confrontation in her kitchen. She said White grabbed a knife out of a kitchen drawer and came toward her.

That’s when Hall stepped between the two and tried to stop the argument, she said.

She said Hall put out his arms and urged White to “put it down, just put it down.”

Hall, 52, of Franklin, was stabbed and was pronounced dead at the scene.

White, 39, of Franklin, was charged with murder and is being held in the Warren County Jail on a $500,000 bond. His initial video arraignment will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Franklin Municipal Court.

Checkawitz wiped away tears and added: “He just stabbed him.” She was thankful none of her five children was at home at the time.

Her toes were still covered with blood Monday afternoon and she said there was a pool of blood in her kitchen.

“I’m still in shock,” she said while standing outside her home as her children played nearby. “It’s just not real. It’s just not real. I just think I’m going to wake up.”
