FIRST REPORT: 1 killed, 1 injured in downtown Middletown crash
A preliminary investigation indicates Barr’s car continued through an intersection stop sign and collided with the right rear of a semi, leaving Barr dead and his passenger injured, according to Ohio Highway Patrol Sgt. Brian Bost.
“For some reason, (the sedan) didn’t stop at the stop sign. Don’t know why. That’s what caused the accident,” the sergeant said.
The car was headed west on Manchester and the semi was traveling north on North Clinton when the accident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. The collision occurred at the intersection where the car when under the semi and was then dragged several yards.
The driver of the semi, Jack Newbrough, 47, of West Virginia, was not injured.
Bost said the semi driver had just dropped off a load in Monroe and was headed to Indiana.
