Topgolf’s 27th location nationwide and its first Ohio location opened for business today just off Interstate 75’s Union Centre Boulevard exit.

Those who golfed, dined and played at the new attraction had praise for its universal appeal.

“The food is fantastic … and the rooftop patio is about to be my new spot,” said Tasha Stewart of Cincinnati. “There’s so many other ways (besides golf) to entertain yourself. I haven’t golfed, and I’m still having a great time.”

Stewart, who called the experience “fantastic” for everyone and “the best of both worlds,” said Topgolf should attract people of varying golfing abilities — or none — because the experience is about more than the game.

“You can either come alone and practice your swing, or you can come with friends who might not be as good as you because you’re a real golfer and still everybody will have a good time,” she said.

Avid golfer Bill Souders, of West Chester Twp., said he could see visiting the venue with friends and competing against one another.

“The targets and the points and the competition are just really exhilarating,” Souders said, who added the experience likely will improve his golf game. “This really helps you target into locations and distances and, as I think about it, is exactly how I should be practicing on the range, but I never really thought about it before.”

Tom Browne of Bloomington, Ind., who described himself as “a casual golfer,” said he enjoyed playing at the Topgolf in Dallas and jumped at the opportunity to play at the new Butler County location.

“It was definitely worth the drive to come over,” he said. “It’s just a great time. The food quality is phenomenal, as good as any restaurant. My wife isn’t a golfer but this is something she’s played two or three times and really has fun socializing with people and getting a chance to … learn how to play.”

Kerry Hendel, of West Chester Twp., said she likes that Topgolf offers several spaces inside the venue for her company to have meetings or for her to host an event or just hang out with friends on a Friday or Saturday night.

“It’s not that expensive, if I’ve got six people out in the bay and having a great time,” Hendel said. “They’ve got servers that come to the table so I don’t have to get up and go anywhere.”

Hendel, a golfer since nine years old, said the Topgolf experience helped her improve her aim.

“At the golf course I don’t really have anything to aim at except the flag, but here I can kind of work my strokes a little bit better,” she said.
