Rib City is heading back to Butler County with a new location on Hamilton’s West Side.

The former Fairfield business got its start in 2006 and moved to Springdale in 2011, but its run there will end on Feb. 28, according to owner Mike Harding.

The new location at 746 NW Washington Blvd., the former location of Walt’s Barbeque, is expected to open in early spring, Harding said.

“There’s a lot of family-oriented people over there, a lot of homes, and it’s about time some great barbecue came to the west side of Hamilton,” he said. “Every time I go out, it’s always too busy. There’s a lot of people that need another great place to eat.”

Rib City touts itself as a full-service, family oriented restaurant with “fall-off-the-bone” ribs and a variety of other menu selections, including appetizers, salads, sandwiches and desserts, plus activities for children.

The new location, which will be remodeled to include a new bar, will offer new menu items and feature numerous TVs, Harding said.

The front of the restaurant will resemble the current location, but the back will feature “more of a sports bar setup” along with a bar menu that includes finger foods already on Rib City’s menu, he said.

It will seat approximately 175 guests and employ about 30 people, twice the amount that are working at its present location. That will include wait staff, kitchen staff and bartenders.

Hiring information will be made available closer to the restaurant’s opening date, Harding said.
