Several cars were heavily damaged in a garage fire behind apartments in the 3900 block of Arlington Avenue in Hamilton this morning.

Firefighters were dispatched at about 8:45 a.m. this morning to the report of a structure fire. They extinguished the fire by about 9:20 a.m.

“I woke up ... to some heavy beating on the door,” said one of the building’s residents. “They said the place was on fire, walked out, and a bunch of smoke out back. Then walked around the building and the whole carport was engulfed.”

Residents were evacuated from the building while the firefighters battled the fire, and Arlington Avenue is closed near the site.

There were no reported injuries.
