The new location, which opened Jan. 14, is one of more than 800 Planet Fitness clubs nationwide, each one fully staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“Here at Planet Fitness we’re known as a Judgment-Free Zone,” said manager Dalton Shuford. “That simply means we don’t cater to bodybuilders or power lifters, we focus more on your general fitness. Most of our members are first time gym users so that creates a comfortable, non-intimidating environment.”
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for 10 a.m. Feb. 16. Two specials are available from now until Feb 10.
The first special allows guest to pay $1 down and then $10 a month thereafter for monthly membership, which includes free unlimited certified fitness training. The second special is also $1 down, but $20 a month gets members access to all Planet Fitness locations nationwide, as well as the ability to bring a guest for free each visit and full access to the Middletown location’s 13 tanning beds and four hydro-massage beds.
Membership is on a month-by-month basis, according to Michael Hamilton, co-owner and chief operating officer of Planet Fitness Midwest, which includes operations in the Cincinnati and St. Louis areas.
“There’s no buyout,” he said. We try to earn everybody’s business. We don’t lock them into any contracts.”
