New restaurant in West Chester open today, Friday for special event

Potbelly Sandwich Shop officially opens Saturday in West Chester.

Potbelly Sandwich Shop will celebrate its opening early with two fundraising events meant to help Lakota East Athletic Department.

The restaurantat at 7246 Outfitters Way in West Chester Twp. will open Saturday and offer made-to-order toasted sandwiches, milkshakes, made-to-order salads and live music.

To celebrate the launch of the new location, Potbelly Sandwich Shop will host its traditional pre-opening Oven-Warming event from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Sept. 29, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. The shop will donate proceeds from the event to the Lakota East Athletic Department.

Kara Mate said she started as an associate at Potbelly five years ago while a student at the University of Cincinnati and was later promoted to general manager. She said she grew up near West Chester Twp. and can relate to the growing excitement about the new restaurant.

“This new Potbelly shop will serve as a gathering destination for families and friends to come together to enjoy delicious food in a warm, welcoming environment,” said Mate, the new location’s general manager. “Since this is the first shop in West Chester, we are expecting to open our doors to a very excited crowd.”

Each shop features a real cast-iron potbelly stove and live music. Interested performers in and around West Chester should contact the new shop manager to apply and to schedule an audition.

Potbelly Sandwich Shop will consider fundraising requests to support neighborhood non-profit organizations starting Nov. 1. For more information or to initiate a fundraising request, stop by the new location and speak with the general manager.

The new Potbelly Sandwich Shop includes about 20 staff members, ranging from customer service to managers and is still hiring.
