New pizza restaurant pays tribute to Middletown’s steel-making history

A new pizza restaurant in downtown Middletown is scheduled to make a mid-September debut.

Blast Furnace Pizza will be located inside a four-story building at 1126 Central Ave. and will focus on three areas, according to owners: pizza, salads and desserts.

The business will offer lunch specials, lunch delivery to area businesses, a large dining area and a downloadable Blast Furnace Pizza app to place orders.

The new restaurant’s name is meant as a tribute to Middletown’s steel-making history. It will feature a dining room that seats about 75 guests and, this winter, a lower level party room/banquet hall.

Blast Furnace will soon start hiring approximately 20 employees, including a general manager and two assistant managers.
