A new Burger King is set to be constructed on 2.7 acres at 5093 College Corner Pike in Oxford.

The project, which city council greenlighted Oct. 16, plans to open next year, according to Alan Kyger, Oxford’s economic development director.

The restaurant will be situated between auto parts store AutoZone at 5075 College Corner Pike and a State Farm Insurance office at 5115 College Corner Pike, both on the west side of the road.

Two existing residential buildings will be demolished to make room for the 2,800-square-foot building, which will seat 61 customers.

Hours of operation will be 6 a.m. to midnight daily.
