A chihuahua was bludgeoned to death outside its home Friday afternoon, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the incident as a case of animal cruelty, and anyone with information is urged to call it at 772-220-7000.
A family in the area’s Pitchford subdivision called the sheriff at about 5 p.m. Friday to report the 5-year-old dog, named Snow, was dead and covered in blood on the side of their home.
Snow’s owners said their dogs were outside playing in the yard and that Snow was the only one that did not come to the door when they called their pets in, the sheriff’s office said.
The family found Snow’s body on the side of their home and discovered massive injuries to her head, the sheriff’s office said.
