Officers have have not been permitted to visit Camper, who needs complete rest, according to Muterspaw.
“The department has been having regular briefings about the situation and has provided counseling, if needed, for those involved,” Muterspaw told this news outlet today.
Camper is assigned to the department’s Special Operations Unit and was retrieving items out of a police vehicle that had to be towed, Muterspaw said. It appeared he suffered a head injury.
Witnesses said Camper was on top of a wrecker and fell.
Middletown paramedics worked on Camper for several minutes until he was taken in a medic unit from the lot to Smith Park, where he was flown to the Dayton hospital.
