“I withdrew my name from consideration the day they made the announcements for who they wanted to interview, which was Nov. 26,” Adkins said. “It was an interesting position in a warm climate, but I like what I’m doing here.”

Adkins said he was recruited by a search firm and did submit a resume.
He told this news outlet he has never interviewed, been asked to interview or been named a semi-finalist elsewhere for a similar job.
“I am very happy with the job, my pay and the support of city council,” he said.

On Nov. 21, city commissioners in Plant City whittled the field of applicants from 35 to seven, according to a report in the Plant City Times & Observer.
Adkins has served as Middletown’s city manager since mid-2014. Prior to being promoted to city manager, Adkins served as the city’s community revitalization director and prosecutor. He also served on Vandalia City Council as well as its vice mayor.
