4 ways to celebrate Earth Day in Butler County this week

Today is Earth Day, the annual event to celebrate the environment.

Here are four ways you can celebrate Earth Day this week in Butler County:

1. Tree planting at 1 p.m. today at Fairfield’s Huffman Park

The Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate Earth Day with a ceremonial tree planting with a donation from Duke Energy.

 

2. The Earth Day-Main Street Clean Up, today from 9 to 11 a.m. 

The Main Street Association in Hamilton is cleaning up the Main Street Business District from B Street to F Street, and Park to Ross avenues.

Participants are asked to meet at 8:45 a.m. Monday at the Main Street parking at Main and D streets, across from Village Parlor.

Gloves and garbage bags will be provided for the clean-up.

3. Wayne Twp. is hosting a community cleanup event on Saturday

Registration begins at 8:30 am. and lunch will be provided to volunteers at the fire station.

4. EarthFest 2019 will be celebrated from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday in Uptown Oxford at 2 E. High St.

EarthFest 2019 includes games, interactive booths, workshops, and live music. The Miami University student organization Green Oxford will discuss its focus on sustainability and environmental improvements in the Oxford community.
