A crash Saturday morning killed two teenage girls, one a Ross High School senior, according to Ross Twp. police.

Dulce Rosa Avila, 18, of Harrison, was traveling south in the 2700 block of Hamilton-Cleves Road about 11:25 a.m. when the car collided with a northbound dump truck driven by Kevin Holmes, 47, of West Chester Twp.

Avila and her passenger, Laura Estes, 17, of Hamilton, were pronounced dead at the crash scene by the Butler County Coroner’s Office.

Avila and Estes died of multiple traumatic injuries, according to the coroner’s office. Holmes was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation, said Capt. Jack Tremain told this news outlet.

Estes attended Butler Tech’s School of the Arts and was a senior at Ross High School.

“It’s been a very difficult time for students and staff alike,” said Michael Beauchat, spokesman for Butler Tech.

“Butler Tech School of the Arts in Hamilton was opened Sunday and grief counselors were made available to students seeking them,” he told this news outlet.
