According to a police report, a 23-year-old man jumped in front of the train and was hit as the train was moving at 19 mph.
Police interviewed the train conductor, who stated that she saw the man when he jumped in front of the train and that he was not dragged after being hit.
An update on the man's condition has not been released.
CSX officials were working this morning on a stretch of tracks near where the incident occurred, but told this news outlet there was not a correlation to the repairs they were making with the attempted suicide.
INITIAL REPORT:
A person sustained injuries considered life-threatening after they were struck by a train early Thursday morning.
Crews responded to the 400 block of S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd around 2:45 a.m. on reports of a person hit by a train. The victim was located and taken to University of Cincinnati Hospital Medical Center by medical helicopter.
