OSP cruiser hit on slick I-75 in Butler County

A trooper who stopped to respond to a crash Wednesday night was inside his cruiser when it was struck on Interstate 75.

The right two southbound lanes were shut down following the crash reported around 10:15 p.m. near the Cincinnati-Dayton Road exit in West Chester Twp.

The trooper and a passenger were in the cruiser when it was rear-ended, but both are OK, according to a dispatcher with the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Hamilton Post.

The roadways were slick in the area at the time of the crash, and the weather conditions are believed to be a factor, the dispatcher said.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through noon Thursday for the entire region, with a wintry mix expected to cause hazardous driving conditions.
