Local school employee resigns amid sex investigation

Franklin City Schools and the Franklin Police Department held a joint press conference to discuss the sexual misconduct allegations of a former Franklin City Schools employee.

Franklin Police report the former employee was put on administrative leave but later resigned.

The employee’s name will not be released until charges are filed according to police. Franklin’s Police Chief Russ Whitman reports this will be a long term investigation and he does not expect any updates this week.

A school employee at Franklin City Schools resigned after being placed on administrative leave following accusations of possible sexual misconduct with a student, according to Franklin police.

“Initial investigation has revealed that the school administration conducted an administrative inquiry into rumors of sexual misconduct by a school employee with a 15 year old student,” Franklin police said in a prepared statement. “Within two hours, the parent, student and employee were all interviewed by school staff.”

Police said they do not believe an improper conduct occurred on school grounds or during school hours.

No charges have been filed at this time, so this news organization is not identifying the suspect in the case.
