Patrick Wolterman was more than the hard-working firefighter who died Monday morning doing his job, said a Fairfield photographer who captured the 28-year-old and his bride on their wedding day just seven months ago.

“The public has seen Patrick Wolterman, the hero. And a hero he is, no doubt. But I want to share another side of Patrick,” Laura Endres Hicks posted on her Facebook page along with photos of couple at their happiest. “The Patrick I knew was part of an awesome relationship with an amazing woman — Bre Wolterman.”

The wedding day photos taken May 30 in Germania Park in Colerain Twp. show the couple laughing and smiling along with friends in the “rustic chic” affair.

Hicks said Bre was excited about the wedding day, but not just for the ceremony itself.

“She was excited and not just to be a bride, but to be married to Patrick,” Hicks said.

During the engagement photo session a few months before the wedding itself, Patrick was a bit camera shy. Hicks said.

“But he did it with a joyful spirit for Bre,” she said.

The young couple was very down to earth, fun loving and laid back, Hicks said.

Patrick’s large family of “characters” also made the wedding day special, Hicks told this news outlet.

“The Woltermans are one of the most amazing families I have had the honor of photographing. Watching them together at their wedding was so much fun. I was mesmerized by their closeness. I was in awe of their genuine, fun-loving nature. I saw Patrick in a whole other light. He was a son, a brother, and a cousin,” Hicks said.
