Fairfield school bus crash sends students to hospital

Only minor injuries were reported Thursday after three Fairfield City Schools buses were involved in the same crash.

The crash occurred around 2 p.m. on Williamsburg Way near Winton Road, according to Fairfield Schools spokeswoman Gina Gentry-Fletcher.

“The students were being transported from Fairfield Middle School and Fairfield Freshmen School,” she said.

Officials at Mercy Health Fairfield Hospital told the Journal-News that 13 people were transported to its emergency room and 14 others walked in after the accident — all suffering minor injuries.

Hospital officials said they had no information how many students were among the total of 27 people who came into the hospital.

The school district initially said that four students and a bus driver were taken to a local hospital.

The remaining students unharmed in the crash were transported home and the parents of the students injured were called, Gentry-Fletcher said.
