Paramedics said Asher was dead at the scene, but he was transported to Fort Hamilton Hospital, Robinson said. Asher died from multiple traumatic injuries, and his death was ruled an accident, according to the Butler County Coroner’s Office.
Robinson said Asher wasn’t wearing a helmet. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, he said.
Asher graduated from Hamilton High School in 2013, according to school officials. While there, he studied auto mechanics under instructor Mark Cruey, then attended the University of Northwest in Lima.
Cruey said he remembered Asher as a “very motivated” young man who was the project leader when students built an electric dune buggy.
After he learned about the fatal accident, Cruey said he wished young men would consider the potential consequences of their actions.
“Unfortunately,” he said of deadly accident, “it happens too often.”
Asher worked at Hayes Concrete Construction in Cincinnati, said owner Ed Hayes. He called Asher “a great guy” who had “a lot of possibility in front of him.”
He called Asher’s death “a sad situation.”
