Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones called casting his Electoral College vote for Donald Trump amid protests “an honor.”

“You come up here, you have protesters — which is the American way, they have constitutional rights,” Jones said after casting one of Ohio’s 18 Electoral College votes. “This is history in the making. I’ve never had to do this before — it felt good.”

During the proceedings, Jones was recognized by Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel as Butler County’s “illustrious” sheriff. Jones wore a cowboy hat during the proceedings in the Ohio Senate chambers.

Asked whether Butler County’s top law enforcement officer had concerns about reports involving a CIA inquiry into Russian hacks of the U.S. elections, Jones said he has “none whatsoever.”

“All sour grapes,” Jones said. “The Russians and the Chinese have been hacking us since we’ve had computers and we’ve been hacking them.”

CIA Director John Brennan said "there is strong consensus among us on the scope, nature, and intent of Russian interference in our presidential election," according to the Associated Press.

Jones said he took a picture of his signed ballot. In coming days, he will decide whether to attend Trump’s inauguration.
