Bogan Elementary wins fundraising contest for Big Brothers Big Sisters

Bogan Elementary School was recently awarded a $1,000 check during an end of year award ceremony.

Principal Jeff Winslow and the entire school broke into cheers as the check was unveiled as their award for raising the most money of any school participating in a fundraising challenge that benefited Big Brothers Big Sisters of Butler County.

The Run 4 Kids Challenge, sponsored by Performance Honda and Performance Toyota asked Butler County elementary schools to compete against one another to see which school could raise the most money for Run 4 Kids, which is Big Brothers Big Sisters of Butler County’s largest fundraiser of the year.

Thanks to the combined effort from Bogan Elementary and the participating schools, the challenge raised more than $5,000, which was matched dollar for dollar by Performance Honda and Performance Toyota.

The result is a total of more than $10,000 raised through this initiative that will be used to help BBBS find, train, match, and supervise mentors for nearly 200 Butler County children currently waiting for a Big Brother or Big Sister.

Mentors spend time with their Little Brother or Little Sister two to four times monthly, working on academic, social, or emotional issues.
