Kettering Health withdraws Middletown rezoning requests

Kettering Health Network has formally withdrawn a pair of rezoning requests for its $30 million outpatient facility now under construction in Middletown.

The rezoning requests for two parcels were being sought so the facility would be able to have overnight patient stays.

The facility is located off Ohio 122 at Union Road, about a mile south of Premier Health’s Atrium Medical Center.

Kettering Health Network officials made the withdrawal request to city officials in a letter dated Oct. 13.

Last month, the Middletown Planning Commission unanimously denied the rezoning request, which would have enabled Kettering Health Network to have eight to 20 inpatient beds and offer other hospital services.

That decision was forwarded to Middletown City Council for consideration at Tuesday’s meeting for final approval.

Richard Haas, Kettering Health Network senior vice president, made the request to dismiss the requests and to have it taken off council’s agenda for Tuesday.
