Husband, wife death in Hamilton ruled murder-suicide

UPDATE @ 2:15 p.m.: The death Donna Witters has been ruled a homicide by the Butler County Coroner's Office.

The 75-year-old woman died of a gunshot wound to the head, according to the coroner’s office.

INITIAL REPORT

A Hamilton husband and wife will be autopsied today at the Butler County Coroner’s Office to determine cause and manner of death.

Sgt. Brian Robinson said the deaths of 72-year-old John Witters and his wife, Donna Witters, 75, is believed to a murder-suicide.

Police responded to the 7600 block of Mourning Dove Lane at about 4 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a deceased person.

Robinson said the couple were found dead in a bedroom of the house by their daughter, who was visiting from out of town.

“The daughter said there had been some long-term health issues,” Robinson said, adding that she had last talked with the couple on Monday morning.
